Emile Cupelli Jr.

Emile Cupelli Jr., 91, of Baltimore, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, in Baltimore, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Point Marion, Pa., on Nov. 4, 1926, he was a son of the late Gaetana (Palermo) and Emile Cupelli Sr.

A 1945 graduate of Point Marion High School, he was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Following his service in the military, Emile worked for a while at Houze Glass and for Nick Scafella on the Dry Cleaner’s truck, both in Point Marion, and then became a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Baltimore, where he worked until his retirement. He was active in the Senior Citizens group in his neighborhood in Baltimore, where he enjoyed helping others, telling jokes and singing for their entertainment.

Emile was so proud of his family, and of his roots and childhood growing up in Point Marion.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Rose M. Cupelli, of Baltimore; and his three devoted grandchildren, Michael, Stephen and  Deana Ackiss and her husband, Will, who were all so helpful in his care during his later years. Also surviving is his brother, Joseph Cupelli and wife, Barbara, of Morgantown; and a number of nieces and nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (Whoolery) Cupelli on Aug. 10, 2005; two sisters, Juanita Swanger and Virginia Cupelli; and one brother, Richard Cupelli.

Friends will be received at  Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. A funeral mass will be held  at  St. Hubert’s R.C. Church, Point Marion, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, with interment following in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by the Point Marion Veterans Posts.
