University stays in, Morgantown still out: WVSSAC football playoff ratings

MORGANTOWN — University stayed in the top 16 of the latest WVSSAC Class AAA football playoff ratings at No. 13 following its win over Buckhannon-Upshur last Friday.
Morgantown, which was out of the top 16 last week at No. 17, dropped another spot to No. 18 after losing to Parkersburg South.
Wins over AAA schools are worth 12 points, while wins over AA are worth nine and A are worth six. Each team is rewarded a bonus point based off opponent’s wins over schools of equal or higher classification.
The Hawks (4-4) have four wins over AAA schools, good for 48 points, plus six bonus points from Parkersburg South’s five AAA wins and Buckhannon-Upshur’s one.
The Mohigans (3-5) have 30 points with two wins over AAA and one over a Class A (Linsly), plus nine bonus points from Parkersburg’s five wins and Linsly’s four.
MHS will have to leap Hurricane and Spring Mills to get into the top 16 with John Marshall (5-2) coming up Friday, followed by the Mohawk Bowl against UHS on Oct. 26. The Hawks will host Preston (1-6) on Friday.
