Suspected thieves held by Terra Alta residents until police arrive

KINGWOOD — Residents detained two men charged with attempted grand larceny and conspiracy until police arrived.
Abner Rosa Rivera and Reynaldo Delossantos, both 35 and of Terra Alta, were both in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail Tuesday.
According to criminal complaints by Preston Sheriff’s Cpl. C.R. Cline:
On Sunday, officers were called to a break-in. They found two citizens holding the two men on the ground. Witnesses said they saw Rivera walking around a Ford Explorer on East Washington Street, Terra Alta, as if preparing to break into it. When  John Trembly confronted Rivera, Delossantos got out of Trembly’s 1993 Geo Metro and fled.
Neighbors  helped to detain the men. The visors were flipped down on the car and the glove box had been rummaged through. Delossantos admitted he tried to find the keys in the car but said he mistook the Geo for his vehicle, though he said he did not have a similar vehicle.
Trembly’s home security system recorded the incident, as well as  alleged attempts by the two defendants to get into multiple other vehicles. In one incident it appears they are trying to start a 2005 Dodge Neon by tampering with the electrical system.
