WEIRTON — The Morgantown High golf team qualified for the state tournament as a team Monday at Williams Golf and Country Club in Weirton after shooting a 259.
The Mohigans were led by Jack Wiedebusch, who shot an 83. Jack Hudson and Carter Kline each shot an 88, while Andy Seman shot a 94.
“We liked our chances coming into the tournament,” head coach Nate Tallman said. “The weather had an impact on the scores, but I’m very happy with how our guys kept their composure throughout. Making it to the state is a great feeling, and we’re excited about the opportunity. Our four players love the game, and they’ve invested a lot of time and effort into it. I couldn’t be more proud of them today.”
Preston had two individuals qualify for the state tournament, which is set for Oct. 2-3 at Speidel Golf Course at Oglebay Park in Wheeling. Caleb Osborne and Luke Livengood each shot an 80.
