Howard Durr

Howard E. Durr, 80, of Rowlesburg, died Friday, September 21, 2018, at Pine Ridge, in Kingwood, with family by his side.

He was born December 22, 1937, in Preston County, a son of the late Charles Elmer and Clara Avinell Loughry Durr.
Howard was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved being outdoors fishing, hunting, working in his garden, chopping wood and just being with family. He was a foreman for Chemetals for 24 years and a foreman for the WV Department of Highways (Terra Alta) for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Long Durr; two sons, James Howard Durr and wife, Ruth, of Anchorage, Ark. and their children, Franklin Tyler and Brian James and Kenneth Lee Durr and wife, Heather, of Belvidere, N.J. and their children, Benjamin Brown, Andrew Long and Madeline Whitney; three daughters, Barbara Ann Darlington and husband, Jim and their daughter, Jessica Loran and Catherine Sue Durr, all of Rowlesburg and Elissa Renee Walls and husband, Jeremy, of Orlando, Fla. and their son, Abel Michael.

Mr. Durr was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Keith Durr and a sister, Mary Delaine Hours. He was the last survivor of his immediate family.

The family will receive friends at the Burke Funeral Home, in Rowlesburg, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.  on Monday, September 24.  A luncheon will be provided at the VFW, in Rowlesburg, from 1- 4 p.m. , for family and friends. Visitation will continue for Mr. Durr at the funeral home from 4 – 7 p.m. with  the funeral hour to follow with Pastor Kevin Kiplinger officiating.
