Glenn Zinn Jr

Glenn Alan Zinn, Jr., 49, of McClellandtown, Pa., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 30, 2018, at the Uniontown Hospital.  Born in Morgantown, on October 11, 1968, he was a son of Glenda (Smith) Moats, of Lake Lynn and the late Glenn Zinn, Sr.

Following graduation in 1986, from Albert Gallatin High School, Glenn journeyed to the Washington/Baltimore area, working as an electrician for the IBEW.  In 1993, he entered the Maryland Police Academy, and was first a police officer, and later a detective for the City of Baltimore, retiring in 2004.  In 1997, he was named Police Officer of the Year by the Baltimore Sun newspaper.  Moving back to Fayette County, he worked for West Virginia University in the Campus Police Force for several years, and most recently was driving truck for the gas and oil companies in the area.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Bethany Zinn, of Kensington, Calif.;  sister, Angela Elms and her husband Brian, of Vienna; and a step-brother, Carl Moats, Jr., of Harpers Ferry.

He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Carl Moats, Sr.

Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, in Point Marion, Pa., from 6 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4,   and from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, until the hour of service at 11 a.m.  with the Rev. French Jenkins officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, in Smithfield, Pa.
