CLARKSBURG — A Virginia man wanted on multiple counts of sexual related crimes against a child has been located in Grafton.

Joseph Clinton Paige Sr., of Reva, Va., was arrested at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday by the US Marshals Service, with assistance from the Grafton Police Department and Taylor County Sheriff’s Department. Paige was wanted by the Madison County, Va., Sheriff’s Office for on multiple charges relating to sexual assault of a minor in June.

Paige is alleged to have sexually assaulted a minor family member in his care from June 27-29. He is charged with sexual battery, sexual abuse of a child in his care and object sexual penetration. Warrants for his arrest were issued July 10 in Madison County.

Deputy marshals and Task Force officers assigned to the US Marshals Service Capital area Regional Fugitive Task Force began searching for Paige Aug. 14. The information developed in Virginia led investigators to believe Paige had fled the area and was living with family members in West Virginia.

On Tuesday, a lead was sent to deputy marshals in Clarksburg, who were able to identify possible locations where the fugitive may be hiding. Wednesday, a vehicle related to the fugitive was spotted near a home on Ross Street, belonging to a family member. Law enforcement officers arrested Paige without incident at the home.

Paige will be charged as a fugitive from justice in Taylor County, and will have extradition hearings before returning to Virginia. He will be lodged at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
