Man arrested after allegedly beating woman with a coffee pot

MORGANTOWN — A Pennsylvania man is in jail after being arrested for beating a woman at Hotel Morgan.
Jason A. Grim, 41, of Carmichaels, is charged with malicious wounding by the Morgantown Police Department (MPD).
Officers responded to a disturbance at the hotel at 2:10 a.m. and heard crying through the door of room 611, according to a criminal complaint.
The man who answered the door was bleeding from wounds on his hands, wrists and forearms, a press release stated.
After entering the room because of “the obvious signs of a physical altercation” officers discovered a woman, whose face was “covered in blood.” She had what appeared to be a broken nose and marks with swelling around her right eye.
The towel she was using was described as “blood soaked” in the criminal complaint and officers saw large blood stains on the bed sheets and pillow case.
She told emergency workers that she and Grim were in a fight and he hit her with a glass coffee pot and his fists. The coffee pot was found on the floor by the foot of the bed.
The woman refused EMS treatment at the scene, but sought medical attention on her own, the release stated.
If convicted, Grim would be guilty of a felony and could face two to 10 years in prison.
He is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond.
