Annual cruise-in car show to benefit Preston High band returns Aug. 4

TUNNELTON — The 19th Annual Ryan A. Rhodes Cruise-In will get under way at 2 p.m. Saturday Aug. 4.
The event goes on rain or shine, at the Perry W. Rhodes Farm, 2838 Campground Road, Tunnelton. Look for signs on W.Va. 26 south, coming from Kingwood, or 26 north, if coming from the Fellowsville area, to find the farm.
Ryan Rhodes was a 19-year-old Preston High student who died in an accident Aug. 1, 1999, while driving his 1968 Mustang. His family began the cruise-in to honor what he loved.
Donations benefit the Ryan A. Rhodes Memorial Fund scholarship and the Preston High band.
The cruise-in is a family friendly affair, and alcohol is not permitted. Everyone brings a covered dish for dinner at 4 p.m. Bring a lawn chair as well and listen to the Back in the Day band from 3-6 p.m. There will also be a silent auction.
Dash plaques will be given the first 75 entrants. Awards, prizes and this year’s Ryan Rhodes Scholarship will be handed out at 6 p.m.
