Jacqueline Bennett

W. Jacqueline “Jackie” Bennett, of Morgantown,  danced her way into Heaven on July 23, 2018. She was born November 14, 1950, in Buckhannon,  to James and Leota Bennett.
She is survived by her siblings, Charles “Bill” Williams (Yvonne), of Waynesville, Ohio, Sue Sayre (Guy), of Buckhannon, Mike Bennett, of Cosmopolis,  Wash., Jim Bennett (Peggy), Carter,  Mark Bennett, of Morgantown, and David Bennett (Sonya), of Buckhannon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death  by her parents and sister, Brenda.
Jackie graduated from Pickens High School with 10 others in her class. She began her education in a one room schoolhouse. Later graduating from Morgantown Career College, she attended West Virginia University and completed work towards a Board of Regents degree. Immediately following her graduation from MCC, she was offered a position at the WVU College of law when it was located downtown. When the school moved up to law school hill, Jackie’s career path took her up on the hill too. She rose to become the Registrar and retired from that position in 2014.
There were many members of the WV State Bar who passed through Jackie’s doorway at the law school on their way to becoming lawyers, judges, Supreme Court Justices, government officials and more. To this day, they appreciate her kindnesses and supportive words of encouragement. In 2018, The Jackie Bennett Scholarship Fund was established at the WVU College of Law in her honor.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Christy Morris for her dedication and compassion and a special thank you to lifelong friend Joann Audia.
Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home from 5 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 26.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 27, with Chaplain Kim Belcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Pickens Cemetery in Pickens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jackie Bennett Scholarship Fund in c/o the WVU College of Law, 101 Law School Dr., Morgantown, WV 26506.
