Hudson Valley’s Padilla strong in 2-0 shutout of Black Bears

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. — Nicholas Padilla allowed just two hits over six innings, leading the Hudson Valley Renegades over the West Virginia Black Bears in a 2-0 win on Friday July 13.
Padilla (2-3) picked up the win after he struck out three.
Hudson Valley scored its runs when Chris Betts hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and Jake Stone hit an RBI double in the seventh.
Alex Manasa (1-4) went six innings, allowing one run and three hits to take the tough loss in the New York-Penn League game. He also struck out two and walked three. Simon Rosenblum-Larson struck out the side for his third save of the season.
The Black Bears, who have lost four of their last five games, were held off the scoreboard for the third time this season, while the Renegades’ staff recorded their fifth shutout of the year.
West Virginia begins a three-game road series against Staten Island, at 7 p.m. today (July 14).
