Tunnelton man faces up to 25 years for multiple charges

KINGWOOD — A Tunnelton man faces three to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug and other charges.
Under a plea agreement, Mark Hamilton Jackson Jr., 35, pleaded guilty Wednesday to breaking and entering, grand larceny and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substances. All three charges are felonies.

Under the agreement, Jackson will be responsible for restitution, if applicable. He must also forfeit a Smith and Wesson hand gun and ammunition, and all other related items to the Preston County Sheriff’s Department.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Megan Allender said the case started with a traffic stop. She said a police dog found about 13.3 grams of meth, bags, digital scales and other drug-related paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Preston Circuit Judge Steve Shaffer ordered a pre-sentence investigation and ordered Jackson to take a drug test at the probation office following the hearing. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 17.

Under a deferred adjudication, Jackson’s ex-wife Chaelyn Jackson, 30, received three years probation on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy. Both charges are felonies.
The two were arrested at the same time. Her plea was also on Wednesday.
If she completes probation without violations, she will be allowed to plead to a misdemeanor, and the felonies will be dismissed. If she violates probation, she can be sentenced on the felonies.

“The prosecutor is giving you a heck of a break,” Shaffer told the defendant. “You will be able to wipe two felonies and plead to a misdemeanor.”

Shaffer ordered a presentence investigation. He also ordered Chaelyn Jackson to take a drug test after the hearing.
