Class/school reunions

Arthurdale School
The Arthurdale School reunion will be held at 5 p.m. July 13, at Arthurdale Presbyterian Church, beginnning with a social hour and dinner.
The reunion is open to anyone who attended Arthurdale schools, their family and friends.

UHS class of 1961
The University High School class of 1961 picnic reunion will be at 4 p.m. July 21, at Westside Senior Center pavilion on DuPont Road. Bring your family. Food provided by committee. Contact Birdie, at 304-292-0026 or Ed, at 304-292-0616. RSVP by July 1.

UHS class of 1968
The University High School class of 1968 will hold its 50th class reunion from 4-9 p.m. July 28 at The Clubhouse Grill at the Pines Country Club. Cost is $35 per person, due by June 1 with RSVP. Write/mail checks to Brenda J. Freeman, 1331 Kingwood Pike, Morgantown, WV 26508.

Westover Junior High School

All former faculty and students from Westover Junior High School are invited to a picnic/reunion from 1-4 p.m. July 22, at Westover Senior Center Pavillion. Cost is $10 per person to cover expenses. Old Denver School
The 13th Old Denver School reunion will be at 4 p.m. July 26, at Tunnelton Lions Club Park.
Meats and drinks will be provided. Bring a covered dish to share, along with any photos.

MHS class of 1958
The Morgantown High School class of 1958 will celebrate its 60th-year Diamond Reunion Aug. 9-11, in Morgantown. A schedule of events is as follows:
6 p.m. Aug. 9 — Olivero’s Restaurant, 54 Clay St., Wharf District, dinner from the menu (on your own) for early bird arrivals and locals.
5 p.m. Aug. 10 — catered picnic at Westside Senior Center, 500 Dupont Road, Westover, socializing and refreshments starts at 5 p.m., catered picnic dinner at 6: p.m.
Mid-morning Aug. 11 — golfing at Pines Country Club (payable at the event).
5 p.m. Aug. 11 — catered dinner at E. Lynch Grand Ballroom of Knights of Columbus Club, 379 Parkview Drive. Activities planned are happy hour and cash bar (5 p.m.), group photo (6 p.m.), catered buffet dinner (6:30 p.m.) and socializing until 11 p.m.
Cost for the reunion is $30 per person for the Friday evening picnic, and $65 per person for the Saturday evening banquet.
Rooms are blocked at the Euro Suites until July 20, the Holiday Inn, Pineview Drive, until July 23, and the Hampton Inn, University Towne Centre until July 9.

UHS class of 2008
The University High School class of 2008 will celebrate its 10th reunion August 17-18 in Morgantown.
A schedule of events is as follows:
Aug. 17 — Family night at the WV Black Bears baseball game, $10 per person and children under 2 free.
Aug. 18 — Reunion buffet dinner and cash bar celebration at Tropics, $30 per person or $25 per person early bird ticket for a limited time.

Family reunions

Malone
The 55th annual B. F. Malone reunion will be July 8, at Smithtown Community Center. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. Bring a covered dish. Contact any out of state family members.

Shrout
The descendants of Albert Solomon Shrout and Blanche Shell Fizer/Fannie Gallatin Shrout will hold their annual family reunion from 12:30-5 p.m. July 22, at Arthurdale Heritage Hall, W.Va. 92, at the corner of Q and A roads in Arthurdale. Morgan
The 111th Col. Morgan Morgan reunion will be July 28, at Prickett’s Fort in Fairmont.
The reunion will begin at 10:30 a.m. Cracker Barrel will cater lunch.

Other reunions

Terra Alta/East Preston High School alumni
The Terra Alta/East Preston High School alumni banquet will be June 30, in the Banquet Room at Shorthorn’s Restaurant (the old E. S. Evans Ford Garage), 405 E. State Ave., Terra Alta. The banquet is traditionally held close to the July 4 holiday and attracts alumni from across the U.S. Activities begin with a social hour at noon, followed by the banquet at 1:30 p.m. The event includes hors’ d’oeuvres, a full-course meal with all the trimmings, category prizes and door prizes, plus lots of opportunity socialize.The banquet is open to all alumni of Terra Alta/East Preston High School and their guests at a cost of $15 per person. Valley Alumni Association
The Valley Alumni Association high school reunion will be July 14 at Masontown Fire Hall.
The reunion is open to anyone who graduated from Masontown High School, Valley High School and West Preston High School in Masontown.
The social hour/dinner will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a dance at 9 p.m. The dance is open to the public ($10 per person) and Knighthawks will perform.
Reservations must be made for the dinner by July 2. No reservations needed for the dance.

Shinnston Alumni Association mini reunion

The Shinnston High School Alumni Association will host a mini reunion on July 21, at Lincoln High School, 100 Jerry Toth Drive in Shinnston. At 4 p.m., the doors will open for a catered dinner inside the school; dinner will be served at
5 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person, and you must have a ticket for entry. Seating is limited, so register early. The alumni association must have your check and reservation form on or before June 30. Send your name, class year, and full mailing address along with a check made out to SHS Alumni Association for $20 per reservation. Mail your note and your check to SHS Alumni Association, PO Box 352, Shinnston, WV 26431. You will receive your ticket by return mail.

The Alumni Parking Lot Party begins at 6 p.m. and continues until midnight. Bring a pop-up tent, a table and snacks for your class. The association will provide water and soft drinks. Don’t forget folding chairs, as there is limited seating outside. You may set up your class’ tent any time before the event. You are welcome to attend the party, even if you don’t attend the dinner.

The Alumni Room at the Bice-Ferguson Memorial Museum, 400 Pike Street in Shinnston, will be open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. the same day, and Shinnston High School merchandise will be on sale. There is a staircase leading to the Alumni Room, and there is a stair lift, should you need it.

Typically, the association holds reunions every four years, with the next reunion scheduled for the summer of 2020. However, after the 2016 reunion, the association steering committee received many requests for more frequent events. The committee voted to hold a trial mini reunion this year. If well-attended, it will become annual.
