James Chipps

James Truman “Chippy” Chipps, 79, of Bruceton Mills, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
The son of the late Gay Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Staley Chipps, he was born May 31, 1939, in Morgantown.
He was retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army.
Chippy is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sue Marshall Chipps; two sons, Rodney Chipps, of Bruceton Mills and Dave Marshall and his wife, Brenda, of Proctorville, Ohio; a daughter and her husband, Crystal and Travis Adams, of Bruceton Mills; a sister, Emma Lou Sickles, of Barberton, Ohio; Poppy’s grandchildren, Samoni Paige Marshall and her fiancé, Michael Toth, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Hunter Chipps, Jenna Adams,  Madison Chipps and Trevor Huggins,  of Bruceton Mills; several nieces and nephews and two young girls that called him Poppy, McKenna Maust and Lillian Zender.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gay Chipps and John Black and two sisters, Mable Palmer and Annabelle Banks.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., on  Sunday, June 24 and from 10-11 a.m., on  Monday, June 25, with the  service to follow  with Pastor Steve Wotring officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Morgantown.
Military honors will be provided by the Preston County Honor Guard and the WVANG Military Funeral Honors, Camp Dawson.
