Ambulance squad has turned things around

Jeannie Simpson, Fairview/Daybrook
My husband and I have several medical problems. We have been concerned about the lack of emergency services in our area for a long time.

I had a medical emergency in early April. I called for an ambulance and waited 50 minutes for the ambulance to arrive.

A few weeks later, the Blacksville Fire Department hosted a meeting with Mon Health System to discuss the need for ambulance services to be available to our communities.
The Mon Health representative explained the call-out protocol for 911 emergencies. The people attending the meeting were not satisfied with the protocol 911 uses. The Mon Health representative gave us the information and gave us the opportunity to voice our concerns.
The next day, I saw a Mon Health ambulance roaming our area. I have seen one every day since. It is my understanding that the Blacksville Fire Department is going to share its facility with Mon Health Emergency Service.

I had another medical emergency this past week. I was in Bula (western end of Monongalia County). The 911 call was placed at 9:15 a.m. I arrived at Ruby Hospital at 10:10 a.m.

I want to thank the Mon Health ambulance squad for their rapid response and the excellent care that I received.

I felt the need to share this with the public. I feel that when the people work together, we can accomplish anything.
