Road work on I-68, I-79 expected to cause delays

MORGANTOWN — The West Virginia Division of Highways advises motorists that there will be lane closures on Interstate 68 and Interstate 79 this week and next in Monongalia County, resulting in expected traffic delays.

There will be a lane closure on I-68 westbound at the I-68/I-79 overpass leading to I-79 southbound from mile marker .73 westbound to mile marker .47 westbound today-June 16. Work hours are from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The purpose for the delays is to install high friction surface treatment. Work will be performed on I-68 westbound lanes. Lane closures will be in place for the duration of the phase work.

There will be a lane closure on Interstate 79 from the West Virginia/Pennsylvania state line to milemarker 155, beginning at 6:30 a.m. June 18 through 9 p.m. June 21.

The purpose for the closure is road repair and paving. Work will be performed on the I-79 southbound outside lane (slow lane). Lane closures will be in place for the duration of phase work.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow additional time for their commmute. Note that inclement weather or unforseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
