David “Rusty” Russell (Lipscomb) Shay, 60, of Independence, died at his home on Saturday, June 2, 2018. He was born April 10, 1958, son of Robert E. Lipscomb, of Morgantown and the late Allie Gennell Livesay Lipscomb.
Rusty was the type that when he set his mind to it he was good at many things and loved to help people when he could.
In addition to his father, he was survived by his daughters, Keri Rivas and Heidi Shay, of Westfield, Mass.; one stepson, Kevin Shay, of Westfield, Mass.; two sisters, Connie Morton and husband Dennis, of Conover, N.C. and Cathy Polmatier, of Westfield, Mass.; one brother, Robert Lipscomb and wife Sandy; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; three nieces, five nephews and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Gennell Bessonette; his paternal grandparents, Ervin J. and Lula P. Lipscomb; maternal grandparents, Everett and Flora Livesay and several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be set at a later date.
