New preliminary hearing date set for accused murderer

KINGWOOD — Accused murderer Joseph Edward Harrison waived the time limit on his preliminary hearing Thursday, and a new hearing date was set.
Harrison, 26, of Kingwood, is charged with second-degree murder in the May 8 stabbing death of his estranged wife, Kimberly Dawn Harrison, 27. He remains in the Tygart County Regional Jail in lieu of $1 million bond.
The purpose of Thursday’s preliminary hearing in Preston County Magistate Court was for a magistrate to determine whether enough evidence exists to bind the case over to the grand jury for possible indictment.
Preliminary hearings must be held within 10 days of someone being charged with a felony. By waiving the time, Harrison allows the hearing to be held later. The new hearing date is 3 p.m. May 29.
The court appointed attorneys Phil Davis and Justin Gregory to represent him.
