George Chesney

George Phillip Chesney, Sr., 83, of Granville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 8, 2018, at Morgantown Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Born October 2, 1934, in Morgantown, he was a son of the late George Milton Chesney and the late Katherine Rose Jakubic Chesney.

Survivors include his four children, George P. “ Phil” Chensey, Jr. and his wife Helen, of Maidsville, Edward Bryan Chesney, of Morgantown, Mable Katherine Franklin and her husband Dean, of Morgantown and Daniel Allen Chesney and his wife Mary, of Dilliner, Pa.; four step-daughters, Phyllis Kayali, of Granville, Tammy Davis and her husband Carl, of Moorefield, Rose Mullins and her husband Matt, of Moorefield and Melody Heat, of Moorefield; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his best friend Ed Turner, of Granville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife Betty; his third wife Diane; his former wife Florence; a granddaughter, Sarah Chesney; and two brothers, John Max Chesney and another who passed at birth.

George was a retired coal miner with Osage #3 Mine, having more than 30 years of service.

Private services will be held in accordance with his wishes.
