Later in her career, she transitioned to working as a home health and hospice nurse where she enjoyed traveling to local and rural areas to care for the sick and terminally ill. She was valued by her colleagues for her wisdom and her willingness to do anything to help her team.
Carrie also would always go the extra mile to lend a helping hand or an ear to listen in the care of her patients, many of whom requested her by name. She extended this same compassion to her family, friends and strangers alike throughout her life. Her sons, in particular, will forever cherish the unconditional love, guidance and friendship she provided. Carrie’s three sons and five grandsons were the world to her, and she enjoyed spending time with them more than anything.
