Wilma Shardon (Shrout) Poling

Wilma Shardon (Shrout) Poling, 77, of Newburg, went to join her beloved husband of 48 years in the mansion prepared for them on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at home, in Newburg.

Wilma was born Aug. 30, 1940, in Kingwood, a daughter of the late Roy and Helen (Trowbridge) Shrout.

She was actively involved in her children’s and later grandchildren’s school and community functions. From band practices, school trips, sporting events and volunteer work she was always there. She was not only a homemaker, she was the life and heart of her family. Her children and grandchildren were her joy.

She is survived by two daughters and spouses, Deborah and Richard Westbrook, of Arthurdale, and Kandi and Anthony Shafer, of Newburg; six brothers and spouses, Ronnie and Luanne Shrout, of Ashland City, Tenn., Noah and Cathy Shrout, of Rising Sun, Md., Clyde Shrout, of Reedsville, Jack and Bonnie Shrout, Timothy and Sandi Shrout, all of Arthurdale, and Raymond and Belinda Shrout, of Ephrata, Pa.; brother-in-law and spouse, William and Lori Poling; two grandchildren, Athena Shafer and Anthony Kaleb Shafer, both of Newburg; two stepgrandchildren, Amanda Bolyard and Stacie Weaver, both of Arthurdale; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Kenneth Wilbert Poling; her son, Kenny Wayne Poling; four brothers, William Shrout, Robert Shrout, Charles Shrout and Jerry Shrout; and two sisters, Delores Jean Lesher and Shirley Feathers.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 S. Price St., from 2-9 p.m. Saturday, and from 1 p.m. Sunday, May 6, until the 2 p.m. funeral service in the funeral home chapel with Father Andrew Switzer and Pastor Sonny McNear officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Kingwood.
