Time to stop lawmakers from livin’ high on hog

Cindy Jones, Morgantown
The people we have elected to Washington and Charleston have forgotten that their title carries the words “public servant” with it.
Nobody should be asked to work for nothing, but, a fair stipend is one thing and livin’ high on the hog is another thing. I am sick and tired of my taxes being used by these people to enjoy all the pleasures of life and plenty extra in cars, services, trips, first class travel, luxury accommodations, above average pay, lifetime pensions and lifetime health care at our expense.
Think how many programs we could fund on the money these people squander on a daily basis. The perks listed above are worth billions. Who do you think voted for all those perks? I don’t think it was me and you.
They voted it for themselves. We cannot get a livable minimum wage bill passed and they are compensated for the rest of their lives for showing up to work.
My husband and I raked in a cool $21 with this tax cut package. If we hadn’t gotten it, we would not be broke, and it did kind of feel like getting the crumbs. President Trump bragged to his friends at Mar-a-Lago that he just made them a lot richer. He makes a lot of money every time he’s at Mar-a-Lago and every time he directs people or activities there. Sweet deal for him and not so much for us, but he said himself, he’s all about the deal.
What to do? I am voting them out. We need to get control of this country and cut out the free lunch for Washington and Charleston.
Paul Ryan is a perfect example. He used his dad’s Social Security benefits to pay for college but wants to reduce or eliminate your Social Security. He has health care for the rest of his life. He tried to destroy your health care. He’s walking away from Washington a millionaire and leaving a mess behind.
Early voting is easy and fast. Invite a friend or two. Make it a voting party to stand up for democracy and decency. Vote and vote blue for the candidates that want to protect our environment and our Constitution.
