Learn about fire levy

The Newburg Volunteer Fire Department will be having an informational meeting 6 p.m. Saturday at the fire hall to  discuss and answer questions about the countywide fire levy that will be on the May ballot.

Spaghetti dinner

Kingwood Lions Club Spaghetti Dinner 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at The     Preston County Inn. The cost is $9 for spaghetti, salad, bread, beverage and dessert.  Carry outs will be available.

Spring flowers sale

The McGrew Society is taking orders for ferns and geraniums through Tuesday. Ivy geraniums are suitable for hanging pots and come in red, pink, burgundy ice, lavender and white. Zonal geraniums for planters or garden come in red, pink, pink sizzle, lilac and rose sizzle.

Cost is $12 per plant. Orders can be picked up at the McGrew House 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. May 4.      To place an order, call 304-329-0884 or e-mail mcgrewsociety@yahoo.com.

Diabetic Support Group

The Preston County Health Department will hold the monthly Diabetic Support Group 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Extension Office on Court Street. Meredith Sneddon, Certified Diabetic Educator, will be presenting    “Healthy Coping for Persons with Diabetes.”

Meredith will also share some healthy diabetes friendly recipes.  The event is open to anyone with diabetes or interested in learning more about diabetes. There is no charge to attend.

Appointments are available at the Health Department for those newly diagnosed with diabetes or having trouble controlling their diabetes.  Meredith Sneddon, Certified Diabetic Educator, provides information to those interested in learning more about diabetes.

Chicken dinner

The Newburg Volunteer Fire Department will have a dinner 11 a.m.-2 p.m. today at the fire hall. The menu will be rosemary parmesan chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, cole slaw, rolls and dessert.  The cost is $9 per person.
