Pauline “Polly” (Liston) Davis

Pauline “Polly” (Liston) Davis, 96, passed on to heaven, Monday, March 26, 2018, from Pine Ridge Care Center, in Kingwood.
She was the wife of recently deceased James Walter Davis Jr. They leave their son, Jim; grandson, Noah and wife, Scarlette; and great-grandson, Silas James.
Pauline was born to Lesley Liston and Opal Mae (Harned) Liston and had an older brother, Paul Liston, now deceased.
When Polly was 9, her mother remarried Cameron “Cam” Radabaugh and moved to Masontown. From the Radabaugh family, Polly has one brother, Bob Radabaugh, remaining.
She was preceded by younger sisters, Kathleen Radabaugh Johns, Juanita (Radabaugh) Taylor (who passed away March 29) and Maxine (Radabaugh) Zinn. Pauline’s father remarried Effie Jo (Pyles), and two daughters were born to them, her sisters, Anna Bell “AB” (Liston) DeGasperin, and Mary Lou (Liston) Walsh. She enjoyed their company later in life and they too were close, loving sisters, a great family of two brothers and six sisters.
Polly met Jim, her husband to-be, in Arthurdale, at age 16. They were both involved in the beginnings of Arthurdale, the town constructed as part of President and Mrs. Roosevelt’s New Deal program.
Upon graduating from Arthurdale High School and during World War II, Polly worked as a secretary to the project manager in the original Arthurdale business center and in the shirt factory there. She married Jim in 1945, and first lived in Arthurdale heritage’s first home’s upstairs apartment.
They moved to Moorefield and Elkins with Jim’s employment as a Trooper for the WV State Police.
Their only son was born and, with a change of employment to Nationwide Insurance, they moved to Parkersburg, Columbus, Ohio, and finally Memphis, Tenn., where Pauline was active in Grace Methodist Church and took a secretary position with the Jules Munn Wholesale Electric.
After retiring, they moved to Reedsville to be near their family and to take care of Jim’s mother, Neva Davis. They found many new friends and joys in their West Virginia home.

Memorial services honoring Polly and Jim will be at the Reedsville United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. May 27. She will be inurned in the Arthurdale Cemetery.
Morgan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Davis family.
