Osage road collapses due to flooding

OSAGE — A section of road collapsed reducing Lady Bug Drive, in Osage, to one lane.

The damage was caused by flooding, said Donny Williams, state Division of Highways District 4 engineer.

A traffic engineer inspected the collapse and the section of road will be repaired with a soil nail, he said.

“Soil nails are much quicker and more economical and provide the same end result,” Williams said.

He said the newer technique is used to fix slides and involves shooting a large rod about 20 feet into the ground using air pressure.

The repairs will likely cost between $80,000 and $100,000.

Williams said there is no estimate on when construction would begin, but the repair is considered high priority.
