Artists from WVU share work in W.Va. Juried Exhibit

MORGANTOWN — Three WVU artists from the College of Creative Arts discussed their art featured in the current exhibition West Virginia Juried Exhibit 2017, on view in the Art Museum’s upper gallery, as the museum’s popular “Lunchtime Looks” program resumed last week.

Alison Helm, director of the School of Art and Design; Joseph Lupo, associate professor of art; and Michael Loop, museum preparator, discussed their respective works of art: Galactic Dreamscape, sculpture; …A And Anything, print; and Our Lady of West Virginia, mixed media.

Lupo’s print received an Award of Excellence, a purchase award and will become part of the West Virginia State Museum contemporary art collection.

The exhibit features 84 pieces, including painting, drawing, mixed media, craft, photography, digital art, sculpture and print. Twenty-eight counties are represented in the show, which is held every two years presented by the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, an agency within the Office of Secretary of Education and the Arts.

The Art Museum and Museum Education Center are located near the corner of Patteson Drive and Morrill Way at the Evansdale Campus North Entrance.
