Council learns about Main Street Kingwood

KINGWOOD — A founding member of Main Street Kingwood (MSK) schooled city council on its origins and accomplishments Jan. 23.

Linda Royce, a former volunteer director for the group, said MSK was formed in 1992 and remains strong. At recent city council meetings, council has debated whether to require Main Street to provide invoices for the $10,000 annual donation the city provides.

Bill Shockey, president of the Main Street Kingwood Board of Directors, told council he is preparing a grant application that would look at and make recommendations on three buildings on Price Street the city is seeking to have condemned or fixed. Council agreed to write a letter of support for the application.
