GRANVILLE — At about 11:06 a.m. Saturday, deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Granville area following reports of a body spotted in the Monongahela River.
Upon arriving at the scene, emergency personnel located and recovered the body from the water, 200 to 300 yards north of the Granville boat ramp.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation and was assisted on-scene by the Granville Police Department, the West Virginia State Police, Monongalia County EMS, and the Granville Fire Department.
The initial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is active and underway. No further details regarding the identity of the individual or the cause of death are available at this time. Updates will be provided as verified information becomes available.
