UPDATE: West Virginia University Athletics issued a statement Saturday confirming that an event tent at an adjacent parking lot was blown over by heavy winds during a weather delay in the NCAA Morgantown Super Regional game between WVU and Cal Poly. The university said five people were transported for treatment and thanked EMS, law enforcement and fire responders for their immediate response. WVU added that it has been in contact with health care providers to support those affected in their recovery.
GRANVILLE – Emergency crews have responded to a reported mass casualty incident at Kendrick Family Ballpark at the UTC in Granville after a tent canopy reportedly collapsed, injuring multiple people.
According to emergency radio traffic, at least seven patients have been reported injured, with hospitals advised to prepare for multiple arrivals. Additional EMS units from surrounding counties, including Greene County, Pennsylvania, have been requested to assist.
