Coen’s fumble return hands C-B a 6-0 win against Tygarts Valley

MILL CREEK - Corey Coen's 35-yard fumble return for a touchdown was the highlight of Clay-Battelle's defense on Friday, as well as the only score.
The 15th-ranked Cee-Bees, surviving wet and muddy conditions, defeated Tygarts Valley, 6-0, while forcing five turnovers along the way.
"They turned it over five times and we turned it over two," C-B head coach Aaron LaPoe said. "Honestly, there were like 15 fumbles in the whole game. There was standing water everywhere on the field. It was just one of those games you had to grind out."
With 5:18 remaining in the first quarter, Coen picked up a fumble by Tygarts Valley running back Adam Woods and dashed 35 yards for the score.
The rest of the game was a battle, and C-B (4-3) played without starting running back Caleb Hall, who was in concussion protocol. LaPoe said Hall is expected to play next week.
"It was one of those games where a punt was not a bad play," LaPoe said. "We did have some offense, but kept shooting ourselves in the foot and derailed ourselves."
Caleb Snodgrass rushed for 72 yards on 14 attempts and Coen had 29 yards on six carries.
The Cee-Bees defense was the difference, coming up with four fumble recoveries and Cody Clovis intercepted the only pass Tygarts Valley (0-8) attempted the entire game.
