The bridge on Interstate 79 northbound at Goshen Road was closed after a vehicle caught fire, melting the pavement Tuesday morning. The fire, which was originally reported just before 4 a.m., forced traffic to back up to US 310 at the downtown exit in Fairmont. Traffic coming north exited 79 at Prickett's Fort and traveled to US Route 73/Smithtown Road to continue north. Traffic was still backed up as of 4 p.m. Standing at the PILOT truck stop, a small portion of traffic can be seen Tuesday afternoon.
