MORGANTOWN β West Virginia football had its first flip on the recruiting trail this offseason. Three-star running back Bryian Duncan Jr. announced on social media that he’s committed to the Mountaineers for the 2027 class. Duncan was originally committed to Kentucky.
Duncan is a Georgia native, which seems to be a hotbed for WVU in recruiting, including tailbacks. 4-star running back Amari Latimer is also from Georgia. The 5-foot-9, 160-pound running back is rated as the 85th-highest rated player in the state, and is listed as an athlete on 247Sports. He’s the No. 55 athlete in the class of 2027.
Duncan decided to flip after spending the weekend in Morgantown on his official visit. He had an official visit planned to Kentucky on June 12, but now he’s with WVU. Before committing to Kentucky, he had offers from multiple Power Four schools, including Pitt, Florida State and Mississippi State. The Mountaineers new running backs coach, Jay Boulware, was the running backs coach for the Wildcats in 2025. But Duncan’s commitment to Kentucky was this March after Boulware was hired at WVU.
He drew a lot of interest from big schools after a monster sophomore season at Cairo High School. On 164 carries, Duncan rushed for 1,795 yards and 20 touchdowns. He averaged almost 200 yards a game. In his junior year, Duncan was used out of the backfield in the passing game. He had 311 yards on nine catches and four touchdowns.
The newest offensive weapon for Rich Rodriguez became the 13th recruit in the 2027 class and the fourth-highest-rated recruit. He’s the second running back commit, joining Lee Prince Jr., who is also a 3-star. WVU’s 2027 recruiting class is 30th in the country. There should be more additions to come with official visits ramping up.
