Morgantown High girls soccer hitting reset button in 2026 with new head coach Alyson Hill

MORGANTOWN – The Morgantown High School girls’ soccer team has been one of the top programs in any class in the state in the last five seasons.
With multiple state championships, a plethora of all-state selections, and a pair of State Gatorade Players of the Year since 2021, the standard of success has established itself.
But in 2026, the program will begin a new chapter on a blank page, as first-year head coach Alyson Hill will lead a roster that includes one senior and a group of players that bring little experience to the field.
For Hill, the challenge is exciting and an opportunity to grow together.
"Coming into the season, we have a fairly young team," Hill said. "We have about 15 or 16 girls with one senior (Scarlett Miller). She's been a great leader for us so far and a huge help in the transition. We have a lot of freshmen and sophomores and some girls who are new to soccer, but I think as a young team and a young coach, being able to rebuild and try to build a new program together is a cool opportunity."
Hill says the pressure she may have felt before isn't as heavy now.
"The beginning of the season has been unique," she said. "We are all learning together and growing together so quickly. Personally, I think that's a great thing because I don't feel a huge sense of expectation or anything. This is a team with a lot of fresh minds, and I can already see the passion they have. They want to play, and I want to coach."
MHS will welcome Martinsburg to Pony Lewis Field for the 2026 opener on Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. MHS will travel across town to Baker's Ridge on September 15 for the Mohawk Bowl against University High, a 1-1 draw in 2025.
