WVU baseball reschedules home opener and opponent

MORGANTOWN — WVU baseball has to wait another day before its 2026 debut at Kendrick Family Ballpark. The Mountaineers have rescheduled their home opener to Feb. 25 against Ohio, cancelling the Feb. 24 matchup against Canisius, due to forecasted cold weather.

Fans who have already purchased a ticket can use that one for the new game, or exchange the ticket for another home game of equal or lesser value.

WVU is 3-0 to start the season after sweeping Georgia Southern. Before the matchup with Ohio, WVU heads to Liberty for a three-game series. The Flames are 2-1 to start the season.

WVU has won the last five matchups against the Bobcats and most recently won 8-4 at home last season. Ohio hasn’t beaten WVU since 2006. The Bobcats are 1-2 after a three-game series with Murray State. The Mountaineers new shortstop, Matt Ineich, transferred from Ohio this offseason.
