MORGANTOWN – The 2026 high school football postseason begins this week with the opening rounds across all four classes throughout the state.

For the second season in a row, all three Mon County teams have secured spots in the playoffs, with a pair of teams hosting first-round games.

University High School completed its sixth undefeated season in program history two weeks ago with a 20-13 victory in the Mohawk Bowl.

The Hawks are seeded third in Class AAAA and will host No. 14 Washington in the opening round on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.

UHS defeated Washington 56-7 on September 11 during the regular season.

"Our program is excited to return to the playoff atmosphere at University High School," UHS head coach Eric Snyder said. "Our athletes are excited to take their play to the next level after our successful regular season. Being able to play at home is a blessing for the dedication of our players, coaches, parents, and supporters."

The defending state champions, Morgantown High, capped the regular season with an 8-2 record and a road victory over Musselman, and will serve as the five seed in the bracket.

MHS will welcome No. 12 Wheeling Park to Pony Lewis Field on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. The Mohigans downed the Patriots 47-7 on October 2 at Wheeling Island Stadium.

In Class A, Clay-Battelle ended the regular season on a five-game winning streak, earning the 12-seed in the postseason.

The Cee-Bees will travel to No. 5 Sherman on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff. The two sides did not meet during the regular season.

Winners of first-round matchups will advance to next week's quarterfinal round.
