Cathy Christine Wade Metz

Cathy Christine Wade Metz, 69, of River Road in Morgantown, was called to her Heavenly Home Friday, June 19, 2026, after a yearlong, hard fought, and courageous battle with cancer.
Cathy was born in Fairmont March 31, 1957, the youngest child of the late Dawson R. Wade and Catherine Belle Hamner Wade. She loved to tease her brothers and sisters that she was the only one born in a hospital.
In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by one son, Hank Metz; one infant sister, Wilda Wade; two infant brothers, Ralph and Rusty Wade; two sisters, Rose Wood and Judy Metz; several half-brothers and half- sisters; two sisters-in- law; several brothers-in- law; her paternal grandparents, Sam and Martha Wade; and maternal grandparents, Alva and Lulu Pearl Hamner.
On April 19, 1986, Cathy married the love of her life, Jack Lee Metz. Their love story, spanning over 39 years, was one marked by deep affection, understanding, and mutual respect.
She was the cherished mother to her four children, Christine, Jake, Kevin, and Hank.
Cathy was a dedicated employee at Kroger Grocery in Morgantown, where she served in various roles at all three stores. She worked diligently as a cashier, stocker, and deli manager before retiring in 2014 to care for her husband, Jack.
In her free time, Cathy had a fondness for simple pleasures; she would often be found playing solitaire on her phone, engaging in spirited rounds of the board game Sorry, or enjoying episodes of Family Feud and NCIS. Her love for Lifesavers peppermint candy was well-known, and her eagerness to share them was a testament to her kind and giving nature.
Forever cherishing their memories of Cathy are her husband, Jack Metz of Morgantown; three children, Christine (Tine) Wade, Alva (Jake) Wade, and Kevin James Wade; three grandchildren, Jacob (Zoie), Siarah, and Adyn; one great-grandson, Bexten; one great-granddaughter on-the-way; two brothers, Lonnie W. Wade of Moundsville, and Steve Wade of Fairmont; one brother-in-law, Melvin Wood of Moundsville; two aunts; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends will gather for visitation in Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 25. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. in the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Gary Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Newville Cemetery in Newville.
