Kurt Brown passed away Friday, June 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, loyalty, music, and unwavering love.
For 43 years, Kurt shared a beautiful and everlasting love with his wife, Sandy Brown. Together they built a life centered on family, strength, and dedication.
He was a loving father to Kayla Peters and husband, Philip Peters, and Kyle Brown; and a proud grandfather to Matthew, Madilyn, Bethany, Benjamin, and Samuel, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He delighted in giving his grandchildren affectionate nicknames, creating memories they will cherish forever.
Kurt is survived by his wife, Sandy Brown; his children, Kayla Peters (Philip Peters), and Kyle Brown; his grandchildren, Matthew, Madilyn, Bethany, Benjamin, and Samuel; sisters, Anjie Votolato (Ernie Votolato), Laura Brown Meyer, Shelley Black (Chris Black); his brothers, Jeff Brown and Michael Brown; his brother-in- law, Richard Toth; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Lauren, Rachelle, Jeffrey, Jr., Silas Brown, Hannah Mullins, Mitch Votolato, Griffin Votolato, Andy Black, Corey Black, Reagan Mambert, and Jordan Mambert.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Brown; and his parents, Carole and Douglas White.
Known for his strong convictions, loyalty, and hardworking nature, Kurt was the kind of friend who remained a friend for life. He was a talented drummer, a passionate music lover, a fabulous cook, and a proud grill master who loved bringing family and friends together. He also took great pride in his beloved Grand National and cherished his faithful companions, Ryder and Chase.
Though his family members lived throughout the United States, they were always close to Kurt’s heart. Not a day passed without him sharing stories and memories of those he loved.
Kurt will be remembered for his perseverance, strength, generosity, sense of humor, and the unconditional love he gave to family and friends. While our lives will never be the same without him, his music, memories, and love will live in our hearts forever.
Friends and family will be received in Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, Wednesday, June 17, from 3 to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue in the funeral home Thursday, June 18, from 10 until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Fr. John McDonough officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
