MORGANTOWN — West Virginia has added another key piece to the 2026 recruiting class with a pledge from Georgetown (Texas) 2026 running back Jett Walker.
Walker, 6-foot-2, 212-pounds, initially received a scholarship offer from the Mountaineers at the beginning of January and that relationship only continued to grow between the two.
Head coach Rich Rodriguez as well as running backs coach Larry Porter served as the lead recruiters and that connection led to a visit to campus.
That unofficial visit occurred March 29 and the experience checked all the boxes for Walker as he was able to tour not only the campus but get a look at how the coaches handled their players in a spring practice session. He was especially impressed with the toughness displayed during that.
“I thought the visit was great. What stood out was what coach Rodriguez is building in Morgantown,” he said at the time.
Walker picked West Virginia over a number of other offers including Houston, Oklahoma State, Ohio, Charlotte, UNLV and several others as well as interest from many more.
The Rivals.com three-star prospect is coming off an impressive junior campaign where he rushed for 2,348 yards and 38 touchdowns while averaging over 10 yards per carry.
That earned District 8-5A most valuable player honors.
The plan is for Walker to enroll at West Virginia next January in order to start his career.
West Virginia now is up to three commitments in the 2026 recruiting class with Walker serving as the first in the backfield. It’s the first commitment for the program since the beginning of February.
