West Virginia Caring to open new Resale Shop in Burnsville

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia Caring’s nonprofit organization (aka Hospice Care Corporation) will open a new Resale Shop at 77 Mike & Ike’s Plaza on W.Va. 5 West in Burnsville, off Interstate 79 at Exit 79. The new shop is next door to West Virginia Caring’s local office.

The Burnsville location will be the third West Virginia Caring Resale Shop in its service area. The new shop boasts 2,000 square feet and will offer a variety of gently used or new donated items including clothing, shoes, home goods, toys, furniture, video and books.

Donations of these items, especially furniture, are needed to stock the new store. If you want to give a new home for some of your belongings, West Virginia Caring is accepting donations Mondays and Thursdays each week. They can be dropped off from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

West Virginia Caring is looking for volunteers to assist in the operation of the new shop. Volunteers will assist with sorting, pricing and displaying donated items for the store. This person would work with other volunteers. The hours are flexible to accommodate each volunteer’s schedule. If you are interested in volunteering, stop by the Burnsville office from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday to pick up an application.

West Virginia Caring, which offers hospice and counseling, is a community based nonprofit corporation, that operates the Resale Shop program to extend its outreach and education of hospice in a way that the community can give back and support its mission. Its concept and purpose are to provide funding for West Virginia Caring’s terminally ill patients and families, while offering the community good value and a pleasant shopping experience. The other resale shops are at 603 Bellview Boulevard, Fairmont, and on W.Va. 7 in Reedsville.

Proceeds from the stores goes to offset costs for patient care. For information on volunteering or donating, call Marissa Fox, volunteer service coordinator at 304-853-2279, Ext. 602.

Since 1983, West Virginia Caring, a 501(c)3, nonprofit hospice provider, has been dedicated to improving care for those facing life-limiting illness through direct support of patients and their families while providing advocacy, outreach, education and expertise in grief support to the entire community.

West Virginia Caring serves the following twelve counties: Barbour, Braxton, Calhoun, Gilmer, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph, Taylor, Tucker and Wetzel.
