Trinity Christian volleyball sweeps Clay-Battelle in early-season matchup of county rivals

SABRATON – The Trinity Christian High School volleyball team hosted cross-county rival Clay-Battelle on the hill in Sabraton Tuesday night to open the 2026 campaign.
After an even start to the match in the opening set, the Warriors (1-0) found their stride and controlled the rest of the match on the way to a 3-0 sweep of the Cee-Bees.
"I like the chemistry that we showed tonight, first of all," Trinity Christian head coach Alycia Perrine said. "If any part of our game is lacking, we are always there to pick each other up somewhere else on the court. We want to make sure we are always supporting each other on the court and fostering a strong environment."
The first set began with the score knotted at five before the hosts went on a 5-1 scoring run that forced a timeout from Clay-Battelle (0-3).
Despite the break in play, TCS held strong to the momentum it generated in the opening stages of the set and calmly stretched the lead, earning a 25-15 victory to lead 1-0 in the match.
The Warriors carried their momentum into the second set, once again leading 10-6 after the opening moments. The Cee-Bees never eased up on their fight to draw even, cutting the lead to 23-19, but Trinity Christian earned a pair of crucial points down the stretch to go ahead 2-0 after the second set behind the effort of seniors Lainey Jackson and Marlo Flecker.
"We have a really strong senior class this year, which is very exciting," Perrine said. "They are both well-versed in club and travel volleyball, and their experience has trickled down the team and has helped bring everyone together. They're strong leaders on and off the court and act as an extension of the coaching staff."
Trinity Christian began the third set, leaving no doubt as to who the better team was on Tuesday, opening an 11-2 lead that eventually grew to 16-5.
A 25-9 win in the third set secured the victory and the sweep for the Warriors, who will return home on Thursday to host Fairmont Senior.
The Cee-Bees will have multiple chances to earn their first win of 2026 to conclude the week with a tri-match at Cameron that includes St. Mary's as well.
