Russell Garletts

Russell Garletts, 96, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026, in his home. He was born February 27, 1930 in Morgantown, the son of the late Earnest and Rose Sodmick Garletts.
Mr. Garletts served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and also served for 35 years on the Morgantown Police Reserve. He worked for many years before his retirement at West Virginia University as a maintenance worker.
He formerly enjoyed hunting and spending time outside on his porch swing. He especially enjoyed watching Westerns on television.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Elettra Ann Dafonzo Garletts; sons, Edward R. Garletts and Keith A. Garletts; son-in-law, Roger L. Jefferys; daughter-in-law, Becky Garletts; granddaughters, Dr. Chasity Garletts McCabe (Aaron) and Pam Cox; and grandsons, Roger Jefferys, II, Benjamin Jefferys (Rose), Keith Garletts, Adam Marcum and Chris Marcum. He also leaves behind his dog, Koa; and many other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Jefferys; son, Michael Garletts; grandson, James Cody Jefferys; his grandparents, Edward and Mary Garletts; and brother, George Garletts.
Friends and family will be received in Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, Friday, June 26, from 5 to 8 p.m., and again Saturday, June 27, from 10 until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Donna Dalton officiating.
