DOH hopes for smooth cruising today on I-79

MORGANTOWN - If everything proceeded to plan Wednesday evening on Interstate 79, your commute home was free of the bumper-to-bumper.
That is, no creeping along (or not creeping along).
And no giant vehicles encroaching upon your lane, while giving you just enough room - or not - to take your spot in the stop-motion parade.
Same for your return trip back to the workplace today.
After logging lots of hours near the busily traveled thoroughfare's Goshen Road exit at milepost 146 since the wee morning hours of Tuesday, crews were expected to have the aftermath of a truck fire that actually melted the road surface cleaned up and passable.
The incident, which happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday, sent multiple volunteer fire crews rushing in the direction of the mishap.
Resulting closure of both northbound and southbound lanes near the fire snarled traffic for miles, causing delays into Wednesday for motorists.
DOH said milling and other work was expected to be complete at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
