Cathy Lynn Whetzel

Cathy Lynn Whetzel, 64, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026. She was born June 12, 1962, in Fairmont, and lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and a warm spirit that touched everyone around her.
Cathy was the beloved daughter of Linda Sears Whetzel and the late Virgil Lee Whetzel, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Laura Wallace, Sarah Liming and Joshua Liming; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Nathan Miller and Dahlia Wallace; brother, Michael Whetzel I and wife Pam.
Cathy’s family was the center of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with those she loved.
She worked as a nutrition care assistant at Ruby Hospital, where she was dearly loved by her co-workers. She was known for her colorful head scarves, her big smile, and the cheerful presence she brought to each day. Her coworkers and all who knew her appreciated the kindness she showed so freely and the way she made others feel seen, valued, and cared for.
Above all else, Cathy loved her family, especially her children. She was an amazing mother, who took a genuine interest in her children’s hobbies and supported them with encouragement and pride. She was a big giver with a generous heart, and she had a special gift for making people smile. Her love for family vacations, especially trips to the beach, reflected the joy she found in creating memories with the people closest to her.
Cathy was often the sunshine in a room, bringing light, laughter, and comfort wherever she went. Her presence had a way of lifting spirits and reminding others of the goodness that can be found in simple acts of love and kindness. She will be remembered for her warmth, her compassion, and the beautiful way she cared for others.
Those who knew Cathy will remember a woman who lived with heart, grace, and unwavering love for her family. Her memory will remain a blessing to her children, grandchildren, mother, brother, extended family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
