Robert “Bob” Mathew Hare, 71, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Morgantown. He was born July 24, 1954, to Margaret Lou Hare and the late Robert Leroy Hare.
Bob obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from West Virginia University, setting the foundation for a distinguished career in civil engineering. He was licensed in six states, specializing in land development and highway design. Among his notable accomplishments was serving on the engineering team for the Metro transit rail system in the Northern VA/DC area.
Outside of his profession, Bob enjoyed the simple joys of woodworking and tending to his yard, which reflected his grounded nature and attention to detail.
Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Sandra Hare; his daughters, Christina Hare and Sara McCombs; cherished granddaughter, Anastasia McCombs; mother, Margaret Lou Hare; brother, Charles Hare; sister, Sandra Livingstone (Dave); former son-in-law, Brandon McCombs; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert Leroy Hare; and his favorite dog, Brinkley.
Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation arrangements and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
