Joel Andrew Mason, 48, of Terra Alta, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 7, 2026, in his home.
He was born November 21, 1977, in Kingwood, a son of Orval James Mason and Lillian Fern Short Mason of Kingwood
After graduating high school, Joel received an associate’s degree at computer school in Fairmont.
Joel was a mechanic for Kubota in Oakland, Md.
He enjoyed the outdoors, four-wheeler riding, was very mechanically inclined and could fix anything. He was an avid storyteller.
In addition to his parents, Joel is survived by a daughter, Gracie Marie Mason; two sisters, Yolonda Leane Newbraugh and Melissa Diane Morris; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special uncle, Luke Short.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Orval James “O.J.” Mason, III; and two brothers-in- law, Danny Newbraugh and Paul Morris.
The Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta will provide professional and compassionate cremation services. Inurnment will be held at the Sunset Memorial Gardens on a later date.
