Albert Keith “Pap Ab” Statler, 86, of Mooresville Community, Core, died Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in his residence.
He was born September 21, 1939 in Mooresville, a son of the late Jesse Clark Statler and Nelle Ruby West Statler. Albert died in the same house in which he was born. His grandfather, James Newton Statler, died January 28, 1955.
Albert enjoyed farming, coon hunting, raising mules, going to the stock sale in Waynesburg, pranking co-workers and friends, reading the newspaper, family gatherings, and being with family. He was someone who never met a stranger, and he was always full of B-S.
He was a member of the Monongalia County Farm Bureau, WV Draft Horse & Mule Association, UMWA Local Union District, #31, Clay-Battelle FFA Member, and was a FFA State Farmer.
Albert worked at different places throughout his lifetime. He worked at Zeni Drilling, Forquer Contracting, Williamson Shaft Co., Independent Dressed Beef, Pennsylvania Livestock Auction, and was a lifetime farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Lea Moore Statler, whom he married January 30, 1960; He passed two days shy of their 66th anniversary; three children, Allen (Linda) Statler, Tanya (Bill) Sollars, and Tracy (Berkley) Hardin; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Joni) Sollars, Jason (Lauren) Statler, Amanda Statler, Cameron (Amber) Sollars, Alec (Rachel) Statler, Cody (Destiny) Sollars, Kaden Statler, and Whitley Hardin; 11 great- grandchildren, Emma, Katherine, Evelyn, Raeleigh, Selah, Merrick, Will and Colette Sollars, and Aubrie, Jameson, Archer Statler and is expecting twin boys; numerous sisters- in-law and brother -in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Nelle Statler; and one brother, Jesse Junior “JJ” (Nina) Statler.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to Albert’s healthcare providers and caregivers over the years and through his illness.
In keeping with his request, no funeral services will be planned. He will be buried in the St. Luke Cemetery at Mooresville.
