Anna Louise Amie Burris

Anna Louise Amie Burris, 92, of Bruceton Mills (Pisgah community), passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in her home. The daughter of the late Steve and Stella Amie, she was born July 23, 1933, in Pisgah.
Anna, “Cupy”, spent her entire life on the same farm. She never wanted to travel because she said, “There’s no place prettier than this old farm”.
A wonderful cook and baker, she still used her old wood cook stove throughout last winter. She enjoyed reading, raising flowers, and had a unique talent for raising cacti and left behind a host of them, including one that is at least 60 years old. She loved animals and always had at least one pet cat.
Cupy is survived by a son, James (Diana) Burris of St. George; a daughter, Susan (Tracy) Waugh of Pisgah; three grandchildren, James (Mei) Burris, Lisa (Jay) Dumire, and Abigail Waugh. Also surviving are three great- grandchildren, Cody, Sara and Makai; one great-great-grandson, Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Burris; two sons, Jackie and Danny “Tucker” Burris; two brothers, Troy and Elmer Amie; a sister and her husband, Ruby and Frank Simpkins; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The family wants to express great gratitude for Amedysis Hospice Staff and Senior Citizen Aide Kathy Young for their kindness and care of Anna over the last year.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. time of service Saturday, January 24, with Pastor Lynda Masters officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Bruceton Mills (Pisgah).
