James E. Mason

James E. Mason, 85, of Waynesburg, Pa., was peacefully called home to be with his Lord Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the comfort of his home.
Born January 18, 1940 in Garard’s Fort, Pa., Jim was the beloved son of Melva and Pearle Hoy Mason. Throughout his life, Jim lived with faith, kindness and devotion, striving to reflect God’s love through his service to others, family, the church, and his work.
A faithful believer, Jim found strength and comfort in his relationship with Jesus Christ and was an active member of the Waynesburg Church of the Nazarene. He will be remembered for his unyielding compassion, generosity, humility, faithfulness, and for the love he shared with all who knew him.
Jim graduated from Mapletown High School in 1957, and at the prime age of 17, Jim started working at Wade’s Body Shop by sweeping the floors and doing odd jobs around the shop, until one day he found himself the proud owner of the company. Over the course of 69 years, Jim developed strong relationships with employees and customers alike.
Jim is survived by his wife, Margie Mason; and his three sons and their wives, James Herbert and Lisa Mason, Dave and Joy Mason, and Doug and Aleisha Mason. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and their wives: John and Armeda Mason of Leesburg, Fla., and Jack and Nina Mason of Phoenixville, Pa.; his sister, Joyce and husband Keith Anderson of Mount Morris, Pa.; and brother-in-law, LaVerne Foley of Cortland, Ohio; in addition to several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother, Melva and Pearle Hoy Mason; his sister, Patty and husband Donald Headlee; and sisters, Thelma Foley and Joan Spitznogle.
Though we grieve, we do so with hope, trusting in God’s promise of eternal life and rejoicing in the assurance that Jim now rests in the loving arms of his Lord.
Visitation will be in the Waynesburg First Church of the Nazarene from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 14.
