Ronald Eugene “Ronnie” Groves, 77, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, in Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown.
He was born October 22, 1948 in Morgantown, a son of the late Kenneth E. and Blanche Corrine Lyons Groves.
Survivors include his siblings, John, Kenny Jr., Don and wife Carol, Margaret Kiger and husband Gerald, and Jane Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Carroll B. Stewart, June 8, 2026.
Ronnie worked at the WVU Mountainlair for nearly 34 years.
He loved attending stock car races. He devoted his life to be a loving son to his mother, and a follower of Christ – regularly and joyfully attending church. He collected bicycles from an early age until recently, and he loved to give people gifts. He was a handworker all of his life. He enjoyed tending to his garden, raising chickens and selling eggs.
Friends may join the family to honor Ronnie’s life and legacy in Fresh Harvest Church, 275 Canyon Road, Morgantown, Monday, January 12, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., officiated by Pastor Bryan McNemar. Interment will follow in the Eden Church Cemetery off Stewartstown Road in Morgantown.
