Carroll Bradley “Carlie” Stewart, 78, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at his residence.
Carlie was born August 11, 1947, in Spraggs, Pa., a son of the late John Hagan and Zella Jane Longstreth Stewart
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane Louise Groves Stewart, whom he married June 3, 1972; his twin sons, Steve and wife, Kendra of Washington, Pa. and Chad and his wife, Megan of Daybrook; his grandchildren: Trent, Logan, Steve, Seth and Eli; and his sister, Judene Marchetti and her husband, Joe of South Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Carlie was preceded in death by a brother, John Steven Stewart.
He was a tinkerer. In his spare time, he was also quite the inventor, always looking to make new things to make life easier. He loved to fix just about anything he could get his hands on. If he couldn’t fix it, whatever it was, chances were good that no one else could either. Along with his sons, he had taken part in an annual camping trip for the last 40 years. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He was a big fan of watching Gunsmoke reruns. Carlie loved good food – particularly hot dogs and a good block of cheese.
Carlie retired from Mylan Pharmaceuticals from a career spanning 33 years, lastly as a packaging manager.
He had a great circle of friends, especially Mike Hart, whom he surrounded himself with and talked to daily. Anyone who knew Carlie spoke highly of him, and he will be missed by all.
Above all, his family was everything to him. He was a devoted husband, father, and doting Pap and Papaw.
Friends may join the family to honor Carlie’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Avenue, Westover, from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14. A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family and interment at Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
Condolences and other gifts of comfort may be offered at www.smithfcc.com.
